Indiana Michigan Power is planning to invest $41 million in a project to rebuild and upgrade electric services in southwestern Michigan and northern Indiana. The South Bend-Niles Transmission Line Project involves updating a power substation and about 12 miles of electric transmission line from Niles to South Bend. The project involves rebuilding about four miles of power line from the Four Flag Substation in Niles to the Indiana state line on Stateline Road, rebuilding about eight miles of power line from Stateline Road to South Bend Substation on Edison Road and upgrading the University Park Substation off Indiana State Road 23.
